I am sick of it! This entire season has been so hot and so dry!
Farming in Colorado is already tough enough without having to deal with this.
It makes it soooooo hard to seed and transplant. I have so many different crops under shade cloth which is the only way I can grow certain veggies especially the greens. I am watering nearly 5 times every day just to keep crops from shriveling much less dying.
Oh well.....I am not God and I am not in control.
Hopefully the first weeks deliveries were not too disjointed for y'all.
Couple of reminders especially for you rookies:
- Wash your veggies after you get them. We only rinse some of the veggies when they are especially dirty. The less I handle them the better they are when they get to you. With bagged greens (lettuce, salad mixes, spinach etc) I recommend pulling them out of the bag, washing them, drying them thoroughly and re-bagging them.
- A lot of the fruiting crops, especially tomatoes are picked RIPE right off the vine. So they don't last long. Use them ASAP!
- Use the recipes and tips attached to this weekly e-mail.
- If you will not be able to pick-up on a certain week use the vacation hold function through your Harvie account. That way you don't get charged and I don't pack a bag for you.
- Have fun with your produce! Try new things. Create new recipes.
I am overwhelmed by all your support and am happy to serve you all this season!
