Merry Christmas!
When I think about why I love being a vegetable farmer I usually think about silently hoeing in June with the hot sun shining down on me and a gentle breeze keeping me just cool enough to maintain a quick pace. Or harvesting kale with my crew, telling jokes and laughing as as we fill our bins with your leafy greens. I rarely think about snow on the broccoli in September, but there is a certain beauty to this too.
We do our best to harvest for you and get your veggies cleaned up whatever the weather but this coming week we'll just have to do our best. Digging carrots in the muck or bunching beets in the snow is really really slow and so we may run out of time to get things as clean as we normally do. I just wanted to give you fair warning for any of you who come to pick up from an office job wearing clean clothes. We're always happy to walk through the trailer for you to help get things packed up to avoid getting your non-farm clothes dirty. Just ask one of us at the pick to and we'll be happy to help.
Stay warm!
Mike
