Yes, we will be delivering on Labor Day, Monday, September 5th.
We had some pretty wild rainstorms on Thursday and Friday last week. On Thursday we got about two inches of rain in approximately an hour. Saturday, the rain turned to sunshine with temps reaching the low 90's. This kind of weather can cause plants to grow rapidly....unfortunately too rapidly if they are close to ripe. We had two varieties of melons, Sakata sweet and golden watermelons, that exploded under the pressure. Every last one of those watermelons is gone...after waiting all season. We also had some hail with the storm on Friday that damaged some of our outdoor crops like melons and squash. We are praying that this is the last of the severe thunderstorms we will see this year!
Matt and the kids made it home safely. Sadly, they were unable to bring home any tree fruit. The region has been so cool this year that all of the crops are nearly a month behind in production. Fingers crossed that we will get some later.
Have a wonderful holiday weekend! We will see you all on Monday!
