Did you miss out on the bulk tomatoes last week? Or are you ready for another round? This is probably going to be your last chance!
The outdoor determinant tomatoes are looking like they are about to finish their production this week and we'll be back down to our normal longer term, slow and steady tomato production. So it isn't goodbye to tomatoes, just goodbye to an overabundance of tomatoes.
So glad for that rain the other day, though at CSA pickup Moriah and Dave were soaked and actually got cold (on a day when the heat index had been 110 just a few minutes earlier). That was a crazy storm to be giving out veggies in!
Looking for a few Winter CSA hosts
Ok, I think I'm technologically challenged. I realized it wasn't super easy to add your name to the list on that link I sent out last week. If you'd like to start the conversation about possibly serving as a site host for our winter CSA, just reply back to this email with "Winter CSA HOST" in your title.
What we're looking for are some homes (or businesses) where we can drop off shares for people to pick up Thursday afternoons. Ideal sites are in the shade in the afternoon (in winter) which usually means a north or east facing home is best. A large overhang or porch is also nice in case of rain. Or a garage you can leave open (if you always plan to be home). We'd drop off the shares Thursday afternoons and members would pick up that afternoon/evening and leave their empty totes there. No need to store them inside, but a stack or two of empty totes would have to find a place somewhere until we picked them up the following week. Winter CSA this year will be weekly Mid October to April (except we're taking January and February off as well as Thanksgiving and Christmas weeks). Please let us know if you are interested in hosting.
