Final pickup alert guys! This week (October 7, 8 and 9) is the final CSA delivery for the season. Congratulations!!! You are a rare breed indeed!!! There aren't many people who take the time to know their farmer and eat real, unadulterated, fresh food. It really is an amazing feat to cut against the grain of our highly processed, industrialized, microwave, grab-and-go food culture and start with basic real ingredients grown right down the street from where you live. So give yourself a pat on the back for putting forth the effort!
We hope this season has been a life-changer for you. Is that overstating the case? We hope during the course of this season you've discovered new foods, new flavors, new ways to eat, developed healthy habits, enjoyed time in the kitchen, and made your dinner table a place of sharing, family, and community. In short, we hope you received more than just a bag of food from us each week.
So this is goodbye for the season. Some of you are continuing on into the winter CSA, but for many of you, we'll be saying goodbye for the season at least.
Summer 2022 Signups
If you want to make SURE you pick back up with your summer CSA membership next year, make sure your Harvie settings are set up with autorenew "ON" then you will automatically be resubscribed for the 2022 season. Here's everything you need to know about how autorenew works and how to check and make changes to your settings.
We'll be creating the auto renew orders on October 8. Between the 8th and the 12th, you'll have a chance to make changes to the order. Instructions for that are also at the link above.
SWEET POTATO HARVEST this Friday!
Our big family fun harvest event is happening this Friday 4:00 to 6:30. You don't have to come for the entire time. Come and go as you like. This is a great event for kids to get dirty and see food unearthed right before their eyes! We'll send you home with some of your own fresh-harvested tubers!
You can RSVP for the free event here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/sweet-potato-harvest-number-1-tickets-183910640677
Hope to see you there!
The BIG NEWS!
Our friends Gabe and Katie Farrar from Farrar Family Farm are setting up our farm as a monthly community pickup site. That means, if you want access to grass fed beef, poultry, lamb and pork and you pick up at the farm, you'll be able to grab some stuff from them as well. If you don't know the Farrars, their an awesome farming couple who raise animals the "right way" in our opinion. They offer grass-fed grass-finished beef & lamb, forest-raised pork, and pasture-raised chicken & turkey. Everything they sell is raised by them on their farm in Adrian, MO. They focus on regenerative grass-based farming practices. Their goal is to heal and improve the land with our animals. These natural methods provide you with high-quality meat to enjoy.
Katie will be at our farm October 7th 3-6pm. This Thursday she'll have some of their most popular cuts available to purchase on the spot but to get the best selection, you can pre-order on their website. They offer a meat CSA as well, which is totally awesome so check them out! Even if you don't pick up at the farm, we'd highly recommend you check out their site and get to know them. They offer some other community pickups around town and they even offer home delivery in some areas. If you pick up at the farm, make sure to say hi to Katie. She'll be here to answer any of your questions. Our best endorsement is: we buy our meat from them and are even new meat CSA members. The Farrar's will be doing monthly pickups at our farm as follows: Oct. 7, Nov. 11, Dec. 16, Jan. 13,Feb. 17, March 17, April 14 and then continue into the summer CSA season. To get all the scoop, you can join their email list on their site.
