New this Week: Baby Mustard Greens, Blush Onions, and Ground Cherries. Green beans are plentiful, and Red Russian Kale returns!
This Week at the Farm:
OK, it can stop raining now. We've had more than 4 inches of rain at the farm over the last two weeks, and now we're hoping for some leveling out. Don't misunderstand, we are really happy to ease off our irrigation schedule and all the extra work that involves!
It certainly feels like fall today, yet we have near 90 temps in the forecast for this coming week. September is always a bit of a roller coaster when it comes to weather, but the crew and the plants (and especially the farm dogs) are happy for cool mornings and lower humidity.
We have just a few more odds and ends, and LOTS of head lettuce left to plant here this fall. We are already seeing a quick transition this past week as the leafy greens speed up their growth, and the tomatoes slow down. Green beans will be plentiful this week, and there will be more than enough for everyone. We are still harvesting the last of the melons, and we picked the first of the winter squash (kabocha and spaghetti) yesterday. Transitioning to fall crops, you'll see more kales, collards, mustards, arugula, potatoes, winter squash, and lettuces in your shares in the coming weeks.
Although we are a little past half way through our farm share season, we will be sending you a survey link this weekend so you can let us know how we are doing this season! Everyone who completes a survey will receive a $1 off an Extra item of your choice from either CVO or one of our farm partners. Stay tuned for the next email...
Enjoy fall, and have a great week!
