September Farm Partner Promo Continues this Week!!

How It Works:

Did you know that September is Hunger Action Month?  Did you also know that CVO has already donated more than 1,000 lbs. of vegetables to people in need this summer?  This September, we will be partnering with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.  For every $10 of farm partner extras sold during the month of September, CVO will donate one organic canned good to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank!  We are setting a goal of 200 cans of organic vegetables!! We can do this with your support!  Last chance this week to contribute to our fundraiser!

It's time to stock up on fall items like Apple Butter and Spiced Apple Shrub!

Did you know that we have a Farm Market & Cafe along the Panhandle Trail in Burgettstown?

Come and see us this month as we raise awareness for Hunger Action Month!  We are all decked out for fall, and we'll be collecting donations of non-perishable food items until the end of September!

Updates from the Farm

This week, we continued to plow through harvesting (pun intended).  Farming is tough, but this year in particular, it seems like we have been fighting more fires than most seasons, especially with regard to staff turnover and equipment breakdowns.  Like so many businesses in the wake of Covid, we have experienced a revolving door of staff this year.  The world and people are still so unsettled.

With regard to equipment, our box truck had transmission issues earlier this summer.  Right now, our main John Deere tractor is currently out of commission, and unfortunately, it's almost impossible to get parts in a timely manner due to supply chain disruptions.  So, we continue to wait for our turn to get service.  Our Cub Cadet utility vehicle (the vehicle that we use to transport veggies and flowers in and out of the fields) is also now out of service until we can repair suspension issues.  Luckily, we have a local mechanic in Cherry Valley that can help us out.

Farming really truly is so much more than just growing crops, and it really takes diversify skilled sets to do everything we do every day.  I want you all to know that Emily Kramer, our Veggie Grower, and Vanessa Davis, our Retail Operations Manager, have truly been indispensable in bringing you your farm shares this season.  We could not do it without these two lovely ladies!

Have a great week everyone, and thank you again for being a farm share member this season!!
