D&V Organics CSA Week 25
This week we are continuing with a bunch of great Fall vegetables. Our cauliflower crop is coming in significantly, and we are excited to have both regular white cauliflower as well as a unique sprouting cauliflower available for shares this week. The sprouting cauliflower is very common in China, where it is tremendously popular, but rarely found in the U.S. This cauliflower grows to form a loose and sometimes curly curd (white part) with an elongated stem which is tender and exceptionally sweet. We also just started picking our purple sprouting broccoli, which is quite beautiful and very similar in flavor to our broccolini. Our favorite preparation for these new vegetables is to roast them in the oven with minimal preparation (the long stems attached to the curd or floret are sweet and delicious too), just olive oil and salt at 400F for 15-20 minutes.
If you've received all your subscribed boxes for this year's CSA, you can still purchase a box on a week by week basis through the farm's virtual Harvie farmstand. All boxes are customizable by members, but need to be customized before Tuesdays at 530am. Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions.
