D&V Organics CSA
Week 22
A few weeks back, we had mentioned our issues this year with groundhogs raiding the greenhouse and then figuring out how to get up onto a couple of wagons to eat the plants that were moved from the greenhouse. After catching two groundhogs in traps, we haven't sustained any more damage to our tender young seedlings waiting to be planted into the field. However, we are finding ourselves in a slight gap without things that we would normally begin harvesting by this time, things like broccoli, broccolini, cauliflower and a few other leafy green items, things that the groundhogs were able to eat (as tiny tender seedlings). We are hoping to have broccoli in the next couple weeks, a greater diversity of greens next week and things like spinach, various types of radicchio and broccolini coming on in a few more weeks. The good thing is that things in the field look great and the weather is looking warm and conducive to growing a lot of these cool season vegetables over the next couple weeks. Bear with us through our limited selection this week, there are plenty of exciting things coming up.
Enjoy,
Derek & Vicky
