Week 26
Everything is still moving along great this year with the slightly more mild Fall we've been having. As it looks right now, we'll have a nice steady supply of greens through Thanksgiving. We are looking forward to our first Fall frost, which we anticipate this week. With the first frost of the Fall, the plants concentrate the sugars in their leaves which protects them from the destructive power of the frost, but resulting in incredibly sweet produce. The bulk of what we have in the field at this time of year can handle frosts and some level of freezing without sustaining any damage. This week we will be busy with finishing up the construction of our greenhouse (weather permitting) and preparing to cover up some of the more sensitive lettuces we have in the field to help them grow and make it through this week's cold temperatures.
