Week 6
Since February, we've been growing out our first planting of tomatoes for our new greenhouse and the finished product is finally ready. We finished building the new greenhouse late last year, which has allowed us an earlier crop of large heirloom tomatoes, earlier than what we can typically achieve in the field. Additionally, the greenhouse protects the plants from the rain and temperatures that can prove challenging for a sensitive crop like tomatoes. This past week we began harvesting a small amount of tomatoes from our new greenhouse and we are excited to continue harvesting over the coming weeks and share the unique colors and flavors of these special tomatoes with you. Nothing like a standard uniform red tomato, but in typical heirloom fashion, there are a lot of strange shapes and variations to these tomatoes, with superb flavor.
