Week 10
After an incredibly hot week, we are finally feeling like we are in the thick of Summer. We are still awaiting the ripening of our melon crop, which is looking fantastic with a couple different types of cantaloupe and other specialty melons as well as our super sweet watermelons. Our greenhouse tomatoes have finally turned on, and we are excited to be including those into shares this week. Additionally, we are just starting to pick one of our favorites from the field, shishito peppers, so we'll be adding those to this week's offering. With all the heat, we have finally had to say goodbye to our kale, chard, kohlrabi and lettuce. Due to the seasonal nature of farming and those crops' need for cooler temperatures, we have to move on from the greens and into Summer's warm season vegetables. But don't worry, September will be here eventually and so will the return of green vegetables.
