D&V Organics CSA
Week 17
This week we've managed to get through a big portion of planting our Fall greens. Everything we planted a couple weeks ago looks great, with the exception of the swiss chard, which the deer eventually found and ate extensively! Of course we would prefer it if the animals never found their favorite things in our fields, but sometimes that is a losing battle. We are continuing on though, with most things that deer are not particularly interested in. Sooner than later we'll be finished with all the summer things and moving on to all the fall things. Coming up this week, we'll continue to include watermelons in the shares, which may just be the final week, it is unclear as of the drafting of this email. Another summer favorite, we'll have some tropical Galia melons available for shares this week as well. Galia melons are mildly sweet with an essence of tropical flavors and aroma. For all of our melons, they are ripe and ready to eat, if you won't get to them for a few days, it is advised to refrigerate them to prevent spoilage.
Enjoy,
Derek and Crew
