D&V Organics CSA
Week 16
The weather at the end of the week has been a welcome change for all of us here on the farm, the recent Fall crops included! Although the past couple days have been a welcome change, we are in store for some more unreasonably hot temperatures over the next couple days. Our Summer crops like melons, tomatoes, peppers and sweet potatoes are definitely enjoying this heat. This week, we'll have a couple different varieties of potato to include in shares, Adirondack Red and Blue, which have a delicious earthy flavor and a good starch content, which allows them to hold up well if boiled and used in a salad. Additionally, we've started picking a new planting of watermelon, so we'll have red fleshed and yellow fleshed varieties available this week. We are still waiting on our next planting of cantaloupe, and it's too early to tell if they'll be ready to include in shares as early as Wednesday, so it looks like we'll just have to delay including them until next week.
Enjoy,
Derek and Crew
