Week 23
We are getting down to the final weeks of this year's main season CSA. Our Fall CSA will start after week 24, and will run for 5 weeks, through November. If anyone needs to reschedule days from the main season CSA, we are happy to reschedule weeks into our Fall CSA for you, please let us know. Keep in mind, that for most members, week 24 will be your last week unless you have signed up for the Fall CSA or rescheduled boxes into the Fall.
Each year we hope that we don't get inundated by hurricane season rains, and this year it looks like we dodged anything major so far. At this point it has been quite some time from which we last had any significant rainfall, and the fields are so dry, any progress on cleaning up old crop residue and seeding cover crops for the Winter has been halted until the soil has some moisture. For this time of year, a drought seems strange, we typically see seasonal dry periods in the middle of the Summer, which is welcome with all the melons and tomatoes we grow that are negatively affected by wet weather. The recent warm temperatures coupled with the dry weather has meant that we are irrigating non-stop to keep things growing, which is reminiscent of Summer.
