Fall harvested radishes are so different from the spring harvest. No wormies digging into them makes for much less waste and more attractive, if a radish can be attractive. They also have the bonus of a more mild taste. The spring radishes sometimes get a strong bite to them in reaction to hot days.
The purple top turnips need to be thinned. Therefore, we are offering turnip greens this week. Cooking up a mess of turnips greens taste great with a roast or fried chicken. Try 'em out.
Now would be the time to order extra tomatoes of all kinds. Cherries and salad tomatoes for salsa making. Green tomatoes for fried green tomatoes and as a substitute for apples in your favorite apple pie recipe. Try it....what a surprise. And of course, heirloom tomatoes to stick in the freezer or can for that chili etc. all next winter when you dream of a tomato that doesn't taste like cardboard.
