Hello to all of you this fine day. We hope this newsletter finds all of you happy and healthy. This is the first of six weeks of our Winter Farm Share season. We have been blessed with some unusually warm temperatures the last couple of weeks. This farm took advantage of the wonderful harvest weather. We finished gathering brussels sprouts, cabbages, cauliflowers and broccolini. Also accomplished a bit of greenhouse winter preparation. Doors are always a problem. The heating and thawing around doors causes difficulty. Cold air leaks, gaps, alignments so latches will latch.
We put eggs on the list as a prioty item. If you really don't want eggs included in your box then swap it out. At any rate eggs are included in the normal winter share. Lots of baking coming up and good eggs are handy. We served an outstanding butternut squash macaroni and cheese dish to our employees last week. Even the person that disliked mac and cheese loved it. The recipe will be enclosed in your box this week. Could even come in handy for the family that brings a dish to pass for the big Thanksgiving gathering.
If anyone is new at this farm share thing....leave your box at your drop site next week to be recycled back to you. The next few weeks gives you the opportunity to stock up on roots and squash for the cold upcoming months. At least most items will keep in cool storage for a long length of time if not used right away....or some used for decorations for holiday gatherings.
If anyone would like to order a winter wreath Gail will be out cutting pine and gathering decorations soon. A 16" wreath will cost you $35. We will start delivering them November 30th- December 1st. You will see it as an add on for that week. If you would like a special color or theme, shoot her an email. gail.dragsmithfarms@gmail.com
As always have a great week and come visit us.
