Greetings to everyone this fine November day. Please greet your family and friends for us. We hope this newsletter finds all in good health and spirits. The lack of sunshine and warmth makes us grumpy, but, as good stewards to our planet, we must let nature have a nap. Think about how out of sorts we get without sleep!
This past week was a bit frantic here on the farm. Preparing for nights in the 20 degree range came on so fast. We were spoiled by the warm weather of the last couple of weeks. Cutting the remaining heads of broccoli proved to be an adventure. Drizzle, wind and long forgotten about mud combined with darkness made for a frantic harvest. Broccoli survives some cold temperatures. Down to about 29 degrees makes it sweeter tasting. Below that and it turns into brown mush. Being short handed we did not get the baby beets, baby diakon radishes and baby turnips out of the ground. Hope to do that on Monday if the ground is not to frozen.
As always have a great week and come for a visit.
