It's been a quiet week on the farm, where I am surrounded by family and friends covered in tree sap. We are deep into our winter program and making sweet-smelling decorations. A couple days a week I drive over to one of the Connecticut Christmas tree farms and walk the aisles looking for trees that have been overlooked. Little trees that have a section missing have a funny shape, have two tops, or just didn't capture the attention of a hopeful family just yet. I collect these trees and turn them into gorgeous decorations and let them be part of the season.
Winter has its own pace around the farm. I switch on the big furnaces and watch over them like a new parent. Making sure they keep the greenhouses warm throughout the night. I catch up on repairs for a few weeks. Many of you might be finding you have more time to finish those house projects - wash off the bathroom ceiling, dust off the radiators, organize the garage, or clean out your bathroom cabinets. It's also time to redecorate and enjoy the change in seasons.
We are putting together a one-day pickup for a few of our favorites and for the winter wreaths and such. Saturday, November 28, starting at 9 am, you can pick up your pre-orders and bring a little bit of the farm that misses you home for the holidays.
