Do you ever open the fridge and just wonder what to cook? Me to. Having the farm share on hand makes sure you have some good options - for meals and treats.

Sometimes cooking funks just happen! It could be because it's hot, again. Or because you are having people over. Or you are hungry - now.

Sure - takeout is always an option, but your waistline and your farm share don't want to see the delivery guy.

Here are some of our favorite tips that have helped our farm share members over the years.

Plan ahead. You have an idea of what is coming in your share, and you know there will be a couple of recipes. The day you get your share, take the time and do the basic prep for the fruits and vegetables in the ways you like to eat them.

Have the basics for one favorite dish on hand - and replace it when you use it up (have an app with a shopping list? add it to your shopping list when you use it). If that is a comfort food dish like mac and cheese - you can have the shells, cheese, cream, butter, crumbs on hand - and stir in grape tomatoes, chopped up beans, have a small salad on the side... it works wonders.

Use the tips from the CookWithWhatYouHave membership that is included with your share. The seasonal and foundational recipes - quick to locate an option based on an ingredient and that can be flexible to fit your pantry contents.

Learn how to stir fry and how to make soup. Stir fry can take a huge variety of vegetables, basic sauces, and when paired up with some rice, noodles, or eggs - it's fast food... that you feel good about. Making soup takes more time and yet can be decadent. Soup freezes and portions well for later, adapts to your fridge contents, and can be dressed up with a bit of artisan bread and a couple of handfuls of pasta or rice, and only needs a quick warm up.
