It's the Start of your Summer Farm Share!

Posted on June 19th, 2020 by Featherstone Farm

Welcome to our summer farm share program!  We're excited to say that we've sold out of our summer shares earlier than any other season before...and we're so happy to have you as one of our members!

Here at Featherstone we're all doing well and we hope you are, too.  With so much unknown and uncertainty surrounding us, it's good to know that the sun is still shining, crops are still growing, and Featherstone is still here to bring you and your people really good food.

We had lots of very good weather this spring. Namely long dry spells which helped us to get into the field on a more regular basis, rather than trying to jam all of our field work into two day windows.

We did unfortunately get hit by a six night frost in early May, which did set back nearly everything in the field. We did our very best to cover what we could under protective remay, and soaked our baby plants to prevent as much damage as possible, but in the end we did take major hits to many of our crops. Cabbage, Broccoli, Sweet Corn, and Peppers were among the hardest hit.  But do not fear, we grow several succesions (plantings of these) so we'll still have all these items for your shares this season.

Here are some of your crops, growing in the field:
One of our lettuce fields, which your romaine will come out of for this week's box!

Our flat feaf parsley, which will be ready for your second box of the season!

This is the first year that we have hoop house tomatoes, which means earlier toms for your summer boxes!

And there's lots and lots more growing for you, too!

Just a reminder that each week your Friday customization email--this email-- (sent around 11am) will list out what's in your box for next week, based on your preferences and what we're harvesting at the time.  You have until midnight on Saturday to make swaps or changes to your share, if desired, and to purchase extras if available.

If you have any technical issues during the swapping contents process, the folks over at Harvie are super helpful and can be reached at support@harvie.farm.  We're also here to help, too, so please reach out whenever you have questions.

We're looking forward to a bountiful season of beautiful produce in your shares!  Thank you for your membership with our farm, we couldn't do it without you!

Gratefully,

Patty, Jack and the Featherstone Crew
