Hello Members.

In this week's newsletter we have some delicious recipe ideas, one bit of sad news  and some exciting news about a new farm offering!

Sad news first:  we have had some predator issues in the hen house and eggs will be off the menu for the next little while while we get things secure again AND work on securing more laying hens.

What is our exciting new offering?

Fridays at the Farm!!

What does this include?

  • Take out or picnic-style Dough Bros wood fired pizza, flavour of the week ($20 each)
  • Cold drinks (The County Bounty $4/can and Harmony Hooch $3/glass)
  • U-Pick Flowers ($1-2 per stem) and herbs ($4/bunch)
  • Perhaps a chance to see the goats, depending on where the goatmobile is parked that day!
  • "Volunteer for Veggies":  want to get a real farm experience AND delicious veggies?  Join our volunteer crew Fridays between 9-3 to do some weeding and build up hourly credits that can be used toward fresh veggies!

How will it work?

  • Choose Friday Farm pick up for your weekly delivery
  • Open during extended pick up hours, Friday from 4-8 PM
  • Save the delivery fee, have some fun and take a night off from cooking!
  • If you or someone you know is interested in "Volunteer for Veggies", please email Greg (farmingharmony@gmail.com) so that he can meet with you and get you started!

This week's menu of offerings is bursting with flavours.  It was hard to pick a selection of recipes because there were so many options to choose from but here is a sample of what we will be enjoying this week:

Sample Meal Plan (click titles for recipe links):

Day 1:

Day 2:

Day 3:

  • Fennel Frond Pesto with White Beans (from a can or previously frozen large batch), Green Salad (see previous vinaigrette recipe ideas)
  • Portion and freeze extra pesto for easy meals

Day 4:

Day 5:

  • Left over Scallion Pancakes, Veggie Sticks and Baba ghanoush
  • Roast and freeze extra eggplant to make more Baba ghanoush in minutes another day!

Wishing everyone a great week.

Your Farmers,

Kate and Greg.
