Farm Happenings for week of September 22, 2020

Posted on September 16th, 2020 by Harvie Admin

So how do your Harvie Farms boxes magically end up at your front door each week? Well, there are a lot of steps, but pictured this week is one of the most important ones (thanks, Jordan and Chuck!). Our Operations Assistants are a huge key to our process. While it may not always go 100% as planned, they put a lot of effort and concentration into packing each and every customized order. By my rough calculations, they are packing almost 10,000 items each week! We hope you can feel the TLC that goes into each box.

NEW MEMBERS We want to welcome all of the new members that have joined us in the past month. We are so grateful that you have made the choice to support local with your grocery dollars. Please feel free to reach out and let us know how it's going. Also, if anyone wants to follow along, we do post occasionally on Instagram @harviefarms. We'd love to see you there. And for those of you wondering how to make sure your farm shares continue after the end of the season, don't worry. You don't need to do anything. You'll be notified when we are ready to auto-renew into our next season of deliveries (you'll also have a chance to opt out).

CHEESE SHARE Wild Rosemary: The newest member of the Goat Rodeo corral, Wild Rosemary is a soft, supple beauty with an adventurous spirit. This artisanal mixed milk cheese is made from rich farm fresh milk and hand pressed with freshly dried rosemary and extra virgin olive oil. Aromatic, smooth, and brimming with herbal flavor, Wild Rosemary is as natural a fit on your finest cheese plate as in your Tuesday quiche. Think Spanish with beverage pairings: Cava, Tempranillo, even a Basque cider. Recent Awards: 2020 PENNSYLVANIA FARM SHOW 1st Place: Flavored Cheese.

SEASONS CHANGE As we write this (on Thursday), our farmers are busy making preparations and covering sensitive crops for what might be the first frosts of the year this weekend. Just one more way they work hard to provide the best possible products over the longest growing season possible in our area. Enjoy summer items like eggplant, tomatoes, basil, and watermelon now before they are gone until next year.

Okay that's all for now. Have a great week and continue to stay safe out there!
