Farm Happenings for week of January 4, 2020 (Farm Box)

Posted on December 31st, 2020 by Harvie Admin

Hopefully you ate and celebrated your way through the week--even if 2020 was a different kind of holiday than we are used to. Our staff sure brought the festive spirit. Check out Nicole, Jamie, Jordan, and Sam in this week's picture. Good times!

Farm Share Name Change Please note the name of your share size may have changed in your profile. However, even with a different name your price and the amount that you are getting each week will not change! Your 'medium' will just be called a 'small' now.

Pittsburgh Juice Company We are excited to announce our recent partnership with Pittsburgh Juice Company! PJC is a women-run, family business - specializing in 100% cold-pressed and organic juices. All juice is available in 8 oz. bottles - in the following varieties;

  • Orange Juice
  • Morning Glory (carrot, apple, ginger, lemon)
  • Root Juice (beet, carrot, apple, celery, turmeric, lemon, ginger)
  • Witch's Brew (cucumber, apple, kale, celery, spinach, lemon, ginger)

New Options from Mediterra Bakehouse We've been tasting all that Mediterra has to offer and are excited to expand our selection! This week we've added their English Muffins, Farm Pain au Levain, and Parmesan Peppercorn loaf.

Madeleine Bakery Cookies and scones are back! Satisfy your sweet tooth this winter with delicious baked goods, courtesy of Madeleine Bakery in Regent Square.

Chicken Available In case you didn't catch the announcement, frozen chicken is now available for both butcher box and farm box subscriptions. We have both whole birds as well as cut-up birds. Don't miss the chance to try them out--and send us your feedback. We would love to know what you think.

Coffee Share '1988' blend is La Prima’s first blend designed to be brewed for drip, its name marks our company’s founding year. Featuring a crafted blend of Central and South American beans, look for a citrusy tang up front and a smooth milk chocolate finish.

Bread Share Mediterra Bakehouse's Steel City Sourdough Loaf is made in the tradition of the old-style San Francisco breads. In place of commercial yeast, it’s made with a live fermented culture of flour and water (sourdough starter), which acts as a natural leavening agent. As a result, this bread requires extra time, which also helps to uncover a flavor more complex and distinct than other breads. Once baked, it has a crackling, crisp crust, a wonderful sourdough tang, and a chewy texture that pairs well with just about anything. For this loaf, we add sesame, poppy, and fennel seeds on top.

We thrive and grow on referrals. If you love your Harvie Farms box, please tell your friends. Both you and your friend will receive $25 in credit. You can use these credits for extras purchases to add on to your future boxes. Find your personal referral link here: https://www.harvie.farm/member/refer-a-friend

Instagram & Google Reviews Did you know that we have an Instagram page? Stop over and give us a follow. We love it when our customers tag us in their cooking pics. And while you're at it, let others know if you are a fan of Harvie Farms Pittsburgh by leaving us a Google Review. We want to know why you love HFP!

How to do Harvie With all of the new products we are adding, you may want to go back and check your product preferences. Set your preferences ahead of time and your box will be filled with your favorites: https://www.harvie.farm/member/preferences

Please customize your farm share or purchase extras using the link in your email. You will have until Friday at 8am to customize your butcher box and/or 1pm to customize your farm box. At that point we'll send your orders to our farmers and artisans, and they will begin to pick and pack your delivery for the following week! Please check your address and if there are any special directions for how we should deliver let us know here: https://www.harvie.farm/member/profile/edit
