Farm Happenings for week of January 11, 2020

Posted on January 5th, 2021 by Harvie Admin

Are you enjoying your Winter Harvie Farms Pittsburgh subscription? We hope so. If not, please reach out to us at support@harvie.farm. We will be glad to make adjustments to your membership or answer your questions. Our goal is for you to love your Harvie Farms foods and to make your box the primary place you source your groceries. We keep hearing from members that they need less and less trips to the store because of their Harvie Farms boxes. More grocery dollars spent on high quality food in our local economy. How cool!

One of our current members told us that buying from Harvie Farms is like all the convenience of ordering online from a big box store, but with none of the guilt. I like that. And if you like that, your friends and family might too. Our Refer-A-Friend program allows you to earn credit for sharing the great news about Harvie Farms--by email, social media, etc. You and your referral both earn $25 in credit for adding extra items to future purchases. Plus, we have found it can be really fun to share your Harvie Farms shopping (and cooking) experiences with friends and family. So look for an announcement soon regarding a new way to connect with other Harvie Farms Pittsburgh members.

Bread Share Mediterra Bakehouse's Steel City Sourdough Loaf is made in the tradition of the old-style San Francisco breads. In place of commercial yeast, it’s made with a live fermented culture of flour and water (sourdough starter), which acts as a natural leavening agent. As a result, this bread requires extra time, which also helps to uncover a flavor more complex and distinct than other breads. Once baked, it has a crackling, crisp crust, a wonderful sourdough tang, and a chewy texture that pairs well with just about anything. For this loaf, we add sesame, poppy, and fennel seeds on top.

Survey Here at Harvie we have noticed large changes to the way people eat due to the societal changes around the COVID-19 pandemic.

Will you help us quantify those changes? It will only take 2 mins to complete:

We appreciate your time and will share results with you if you leave your email address at the end of the survey.

Reminder Email Starting this week we are going to try something new. Look for an email from us on Friday mornings with a reminder to customize your share. We hope this is a helpful way to make sure you get just the right mix of items in your box each week.

Stay safe and eat well,

Neil Stauffer, on behalf of the Harvie Farms crew
