Harvie Farms Pittsburgh July 8th & 9th

We cannot get enough of summer! There is such an exciting mix of seasonal produce and pantry items for you to use creatively in the kitchen this week. Since this is our first week of squash blossoms, we obviously had to feature them in our recipe suggestions. If you’re wondering how to prepare them, this Food & Wine site has some brilliant ideas, from lobster-stuffed, to adding to frittatas, and even quesadillas! You can also keep it simple and just coat in a batter and fry. This easy recipe from Bon Appetit will have your blossoms from fridge to plate in under 10 minutes! 

A few squash blossom tips from our kitchen to yours: 

  • Store blossoms in the refrigerator and cook them as soon as you can because they are best when they’re freshest!
  • These vibrant beauties are high in calcium, iron, and Vitamins A and C — meaning they’re good for eye health and immune system strength.
