With the summer heat finally settling in, we've moved our start time back to 6 am. This cool time in the mornings is when we focus on harvesting the greens. Crops like lettuce and kale need to be cut before the sun warms the leaves, which in turn increases their respiration rate.
After the morning harvest, we begin to focus on tending the crops we already have planted in the field. Tomato plants require continuous trellising as they grow taller, and the weeds seem to kick it into overdrive.
