We've been jammin' at Oak Spring for the last couple of weeks with gorgeous strawberries! Lisa spent an entire day making jam so as not to waste the beauty of these berries and it's DELICIOUS! The fresh berries are already waning so we're glad we preserved some!
Busy here pruning tomatoes, stringing cucumbers, planting more eggplant, peppers and squash (just put in our first spaghetti squash this week!) and the first of the yellow summer squash and zucchini is being harvested with lots more to come.
Fava beans look great and are ready in time for 'FAVAS Day' next Sunday... be sure to look up a recipe now and get ready for the flavor explosion.
The bok choy is delicious, crisp and tender so swap for some this week! You may not see it for another month. This is the last of the Napa Cabbage too until fall. Traditional green cabbage is on the horizon...
Try the delicious mini butterhead lettuce-it's sweet and crisp.
Fruit share started 2 weeks ago and will continue this week with strawberries-the black raspberries are coming soon.
We may supplement your fruit share with a small jar of jam, pint of peas or pint of sun gold cherry tomatoes if the strawberries really slow down-it happens fast. But just in time for the tunnel tomatoes...
Enjoy this weather and thank you for supporting local!
Cheers,
Lisa
