Meet Max!
Max is the Oak Spring Intern this year. Interns come to Oak Spring with little to no previous farm experience but a big desire to learn. Max is enthusiastic, super smart and easy to work with; He is a very important part of the Oak Spring team.
We have volunteers at Oak Spring too. If you've thought about spending some time on the farm, working hard and getting dirty you're right up volunteer alley. Email Lisa today!
Mother Nature has been smiling upon us this June. We have beautiful golden beets, Walla Walla onions (promise to list them this week lol), Favas beans, sweet kohlrabi, black raspberries, young fragrant fennel, carrots again and many of the usual suspects for you this week.
It's been a week of clearing out old beds (Favas, peas, mustards) and WEEDING. With warmer weather and rain come the weeds. Lambsquarter, pigweed, vicious strangling bind weed (morning glory family), galinsoga and thistle. Ugh. It's tough to keep up but our crew perseveres and has pulled weeds tirelessly lately. Ideally we cultivate regularly and get the weeds as babies but not all beds get the same treatment....and with so much harvesting to do....no complaints!
Remember to bring your bag back to your drop spot and always call the drop spot if you may need them to hold on to your bag an extra day. They are all super helpful and accommodating.
Thank you for your support,
Lisa
