Farm Happenings for August 20, 2019

Posted on August 17th, 2019 by Lisa Duff

Hello,

WE were busy harvesting and cleaning up for our pot luck today! We harvested the first of the spaghetti squash and watermelons yesterday. And it's pepper season! There are plenty of beautiful red and yellow sweet peppers as well as a variety of hot peppers including round red cherry peppers, green and red patrons and cayennes.

The last of the cantaloupe melons are for fruit share this week. We hope you have enjoyed them!

It seems to rain all around us, but not on Oak Spring. Rain looked ominous all week but we only had some drizzle here, barely enough to wet the surface. WE're hoping for RAIN!! Fall crops are coming along slowly. The winter squashes look great.

Some housekeeping notes for members at drop spots:  Please remember to bring back your bags every week. **If you are late to pick up your share or forgot to pick up please call your drop spot ASAP and ask them to hold it for you.  Our drop spots are very accommodating.  Once Oak Spring packs your bag and delivers it we are limited in what we can do. We run a pretty tight crew here and we are BusY growing and harvesting this super nutritious produce for you. If you know before Tuesday morning that you can't pick up your bag I can hold it at the farm for you. It will stay in the cooler until Thursday am when the Food Bank comes for a pick up.   Monday's and Tuesdays are very busy, I sometimes don't check my email ...text Lisa in case of this emergency 443-605-3063. Otherwise please plan ahead as best you can to utilize the Harvie system and put your share on Hold for vacations and such.  Thanks so much -this system is a great way to help us all be more efficient and organized.

Housekeeping notes for on farm pick up: If you can't pick up your share by 6pm we make it for you and put it in the cooler. no need to call or make any arrangements. You have until 11am Thursday to pick it up or it will be donated to the local Food Bank.  We are very grateful that a volunteer comes weekly to take our donations. Thanks!!

We hope to see some of you at the farm this afternoon for our tour and potluck!  Looking forward to it.

As always thank you for supporting this small, organic farm. We work hard to serve you high quality, nutrient dense super fresh produce. We love what we do and couldn't do it without YOU!

Cheers,

Lisa
