New items this week include fresh onions, fennel, and carrots. If you get onions this week please plan on using them within a week or two - they have not been cured yet and are best stored in the refrigerator. The green onion tops are a nice bonus - you can slice them thin and use them just the same way you would use scallions.
The carrots will come bunched with tops this week. Carrot tops are surprisingly versatile - they can be chopped up and used as a garnish on a salad or soup, or run through a food processor to make a simple pesto. As a fallback you can always toss them in a bag with onion peels and other veggie scraps and save them for the next time you make broth or soup stock.
