Greetings from the farm,
We have been super busy this week trying to harvest out the last of the warm weather crops before the freeze hit this week. We did get a whole wagon full of winter squashed harvested. A lot of peppers so they will last a few weeks. Since summer crops are done we can now shift our focus to our root crops. And we have a lot to choose from this week. Parsnips, Carrots, Beets, Potatoes just to name a few. We also have greens and don't forget tomatoes. They are still going in the high tunnel we have had the wood stove going to keep them going for a few more weeks.
With cooling weather comes soup season. What is everyone's favorite? Our go to is always chili but we also like potato and butternut squash.
Also as we are getting ready for Thanksgiving we do have 3 fresh turkeys that haven't been spoken for so if any one is interested please let us know and we can get you the details about them. These were Michael's and Sadie's 4-h projects and have been on pastured all season. We will also have pies available for Thanksgiving.
Hope everyone has great week,
The Schultz Family
