Wrapping Up Summer CSA & Exciting News for Fall ?

Posted on September 20th, 2024 by Lynne Schultz

Greetings from the farm!

Can you believe the Summer CSA season is coming to an end? We want to send a big thank you for supporting us through what has been a challenging year with the ongoing drought. Some crops have done well without much disease, while others, unfortunately, didn’t make it and had to be tilled in. Deciding what gets water and what doesn’t has been a tough decision, as the livestock have been our main focus when it comes to water management.

The good news is that rain is in the forecast for this coming week – fingers crossed it comes through! ?️

As we look ahead to Fall and Winter CSA, we wanted to update you. We recently found out that the Harvie platform will no longer be available. However, we’ve been hard at work finding a new system, and we’re happy to announce that we’ll be using Farmigo going forward! We’re finalizing the setup for the Fall season and expect to have sign-ups available by next Wednesday.

Excitingly, some of our fall crops are already making a return this week! Look forward to sugar and snow peas, broccoli, and cauliflower in your final shares. Also, we’ll be getting two beef processed on Monday, so the store will remain open until midnight, and we’ll be updating our inventory with beef so you can stock up for the coming weeks. ?

To end the season on a high note, we’re highlighting turnips this week. Here’s how you can prep and store them, along with three delicious recipes to try:

  1. Roasted Turnips with Honey Glaze
  2. Turnip and Potato Mash
  3. Sautéed Turnips with Garlic and Herbs

Once again, thank you to everyone for a wonderful Summer CSA season. Your support has meant the world to us, especially in this tough year. We hope to see you back in just a few weeks for the Fall CSA!

Warmly,
The Schultz Family ?
