Farm Happenings for September 18, 2024

Posted on September 14th, 2024 by Trent Loewen

Hey, we have corn this week! Friends of ours at Leoville grew a huge patch of sweet corn this year, so we're getting from them. I believe the variety is Northern Extra Sweet.

Our hot peppers are really kicking in, lots of jalapenos and Hot Hungarian Wax. The sweet peppers are doing amazingly well for having been flattened and stripped of their leaves by the hail early in summer. I'm trying to not harvest them all green, but leave some to ripen to red. We're also looking forward to some watermelons, cantaloupes, and honeydew melons in the next week or two.

In other news, Harvie has told us that they are shutting down the Harvie platform at the end of the year. It's disappointing, but after the issues we had with them earlier, we had been wondering if there was better options. Anyways, we're looking for another software system to manage our Farm Shares for next year. We have some exciting possibilities that we're looking at, so we'll try to let you know as soon as we have something figured out.

Your box will be built automatically with only produce in it but everything else is available to swap in. Besides the produce, there is fresh baking (baked by my Mom), refrigerator pickles, and our homemade ranch dressing. As always, if you have any trouble with swapping or anything else, you’re welcome to call/text or email. Trent - 306-883-8832, Lois - 306-883-9289.

Have a great week!
