This is the view from the hill near our new downsview park plot of the 1/2 acre we have under production (ours is the lower half of the image with the very straight rows). We have the bounty of sharing this larger space with other farmers who each have a plot. So far we have added about 100 cubic yards of compost to this field as the soil was in a terrible state, heavy clay with very low organic matter. After tons of work, it is now producing, although not consistently (drainage is also an issue on this plot). However we have been harvesting from this plot for a few weeks now and look forward to building soil health, rehabilitating as well as beatifying this land over the years to come. For now, enjoy your share as the summer crops have just started producing!

About the farm
At Zawadi Farm, our aim is to create physical and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food and to engage community members in educational opportunities and conversations centered around active and healthy living.
We rehabilitate Toronto backyards and convert them into living growing spaces for nutrient-rich, organic locally grown seasonal vegetables.
