Hello Members! Welcome to box 13! The nights have really been quite cool out here, making the mornings chilly to harvest! The broccoli plants are loving it and the last succession is looking really great. It's not heading up yet, but we hope for the last couple boxes and into fall boxes it will. Our fall greens and crops are looking great and we are getting the rain we need.
We are getting close to filled up for our Fall Shares.
Full shares are 4 deliveries for $160 and the Half Shares are 2 deliveries for $82.50
Our Pastured Meat Share is up and we are taking sign ups for that. We deliver once a month.

Hello mushroom lovers and farm supporters!
This week we have Lion’s Mane mushrooms for you!
Our recipe suggestion is Lion’s Mane Crab Cakes: https://northwoodmushrooms.
Lion’s Mane are a very mild mushroom so we often suggest when cooking them that they be the star of the show. If you don’t want to get all fancy, you can just poach them a little in butter and eat them right out of the pan!
While Lion’s Mane have been around for a long time, they have been enjoying some new popularity in recent years due to their health benefits. Research shows they may protect against dementia, reduce mild symptoms of anxiety and depression, and help repair nerve damage. As well as several other benefits!
To your health, and, enjoy!

Here is what you might see in your box this week:
Cilantro- This is my favorite herb ( I might have mentioned that before!). I like to just make a quick white wine vinegar, cilantro, salt and olive oil sauce and pour it on EVERYTHING!
Potatoes- mainly red- Norland variety is great for mashing. Store in a dark spot so they do not turn green.
Tomatillos- 1.5 lbs- These are easy to husk, wash and roast with whole garlic and olive oil. Then blend with cilantro, salt and some lime or vinegar and you have yourself a delicious salsa verde!
Peppers, red and /or orange (2)- Sweet peppers! I give these to my kids in their lunchboxes everyday. Perfect with onions and garlic in quick fajita filling.
Garlic or Onions- half share get onions, full shares get garlic
Tomatoes- A mix of heirloom and slicers. Next week might be a little lighter as the dew increases and the tomato plants die, the quality goes down so there wont be as many.
Cherry Tomatoes- So many cherry tomatoes!
Eggplant- A never have enough for everyone but just enough to hopefully get to the people who have preferenced them the highest!
Radish/Turnips- Radishes for half shares, Turnips for full shares. The greens on the turnips are really beautiful and should be eaten! Chop and saute with garlic and onions or eat raw in a salad or saute with the turnips!
Salad Greens Mix (either lettuce, spicy greens and or spinach)- you will either get a lettuce/spinach mix or a spicy greens mix. Both are great for fresh eating. The spicy one can also be chopped and sauteed or wilted.
Collards- So, so good with bacon or ham or ham hock slow cooked with some broth and onions in the oven. You can also chop and sauté it with olive oil onions and a little broth at the end to soften.
Southern Collard Green Potato Stew
Spaghetti Squash (Full shares) or Pie Pumpkins (half share)- The spaghetti do not hold that well and should be eaten soon. They are great halved and roasted and then stuffed with taco ingredients and topped with cheese and melted in the oven. The pumpkin can be used for savory or sweet eating. Do not refrigerate.
fennel-The last fennel of the year. Use the fronds, too!
