We've had one busy week !
We attended our Ridgetown Agriculture College Reunion, Lisa & I graduated together in 1993. While we were away we left Trenton (our son) & Kelsey (his girlfriend of 6 years and our manager of awesomeness on the farm) to take care of things, we are still calving so someone had to be around to make sure all of the babies were taken care of. Trenton & Kelsey ended up having to assist a heifer with birth (this was their 1st time doing this with no help), safe to say they were a little nervous. They both showed they had been paying attention as they delivered a healthy bull calf (a boy) & took good care of mom. After the cow and her baby we relaxed in their pen, Trenton decided that this was the moment... he asked Kelsey to Marry him! We are very excited as she said yes & we will now be planning a wedding for next year. Lisa is very, very, excited!
What else is new,
- Maple Syrup is doing really good, we have harvested 60% of the crop so far, and we are expecting huge runs this coming weekend.
- Planting: We have started planting lots of varieties in the green house. We start seeds in trays and allow them to grow a couple of inches before we transplant them out in the fields.
- Calving: Things are moving along nicely, we have 8 calves with quite a few more to come.
- New Share Item: Cocktail tomatoes!
This is the calm before the storm, before we're crazy busy planting. Hope you all have a great weekend as they are calling for some nice temps, we will be boiling sap!
