D&V Organics CSA

Week 11

We are feeling optimistic now that the heatwave broke this past week!  The weather has been tough on everyone here at the farm working in the sun all day long.  Despite the heat, we've had our eyes set on Fall and moving forward with our field preparations and plantings to get a jump start on greens season again.  This week we planted chard and kale, which should be ready in about six weeks, broccolini, purple broccoli, radicchio, fennel and cauliflower.  When the summer weather bears down on us, all the greens stop producing, and we have to switch over exclusively to warm/Summer season crops.  As we get farther into the Summer, Fall is close enough on the horizon that our preparations and plantings for Fall need to commence.  We look toward each season with anticipation for the things to come, and it's safe to say this year we are eagerly awaiting greens season once again.

Enjoy,

Derek and Crew
