D&V Organics CSA
Week 21
This Fall is turning out to be quite pretty on the farm, from our big field of sunflowers to some amazing radicchio (this week's picture), we are surrounding ourselves with some stunning colors. For week 21, we will be brining back our sweet Negi onions (think giant green onions with a robust, sweet flavor), napa cabbage, mustard greens and broccoli rabe. The weather is cooling and our Fall crops are coming along very nicely. This week we hope to harvest our sweet potatoes, which is a difficult and dirty job of pulling up the plants and digging up the roots (potatoes). After digging, we will store the sweet potatoes in large wooden bulk bins and put the bins in a warm, 95 degree room with high humidity for a week. The heat helps the sweet potatoes to develop sugars so they get their signature sweetness. So look for those in shares in another couple weeks.
Enjoy,
Derek and Crew
