Welcome to another week of winter produce and local goods from the farm! This week, our selection of veggies from our farm is a bit more limited, due to dropping temps and a big freeze coming. We have plenty of root veggies and greens to offer, which are perfect for healthy and easy roasted veggie dinners. Add some greens to your favorite soup and enjoy a nutritious boost to keep you and your family feeling great for the holidays. We're hoping to partner with some other local growers in our area to expand our variety in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!
In the meantime, we still have lots of eggs from our farm, meat from Horse Shoe Ranch and North Mountain Pastures, delicious crunchy apples from Peters Orchards, and freshly baked bread from IXX Breads - now baked on site at the farm!
New to the shop this week: Soil Mixes made by Farmer Mike! Now is the time to start thinking about your soil and preparing your gardens, raised beds and potted planters for spring! Farmer Mike has been perfecting a new line of soil mixes for a variety of growers and gardening needs. Soil is available in retail bags, skids (40 bags) and totes (2 cubic yards / truck load!). Learn more about all of our soil mixes here: Earth Pig Soil. Learn more about how to make the most of winter to build healthier soil in this article: 5 Ways to Build Soil in Winter.
Looking for the perfect gift for a local food lover in your life? Shelf-stable goods like honey made from bees who pollinate our farm, ethically sourced and lovingly roasted coffee from Elementary Coffee Co., or locally and sustainably made Sunflower Oil, Canola Oil + Apple Cider Vinegar from Susquehanna Mills make excellent gifts! We also have local, pastured, non-GMO eggnog from Apple Valley Creamery for a favorite holiday treat!
If you're new to our farm store and picking up for the first time, welcome! Please read on for a few quick instructions to make your pickup smooth and easy.
Wishing you the best this solstice + holiday season,
Morgan, Farmer Mike + The Earth Spring Farm Team
Picking up your CSA Share
When you place an order, you will receive a confirmation email with the address and hours for your pickup location. Here's what you need to know!
- PRODUCE, BREAD + DRY GOODS will be packed in a box labeled with your name. Simply find your name and review your order on the label. You're encouraged to open the box and double check your order contents if you're comfortable doing so at the pickup location!
- EGGS, MILK, KOMBUCHA, COLD + FROZEN ITEMS will be packed SEPARATELY in coolers at the pickup location. Our packing team will do their best to highlight the items NOT packed inside your box on your label, to help remind you to look in the coolers for those items. When in doubt, check your label, check your box, and feel free to open the coolers to see what's inside and determine if your order includes any cooler items. Everything included in your order is always listed on your label and in your confirmation email. Any questions? Email morgan@earthspring.farm!
- When ordering milk: a $2 bottle deposit is collected at the time of purchase, and is refundable upon return of CLEAN + CLEARLY MARKED bottles. Use a sharpie to write your name on your clean and dry milk bottle - don't worry, it will wipe off later! The farm team will track your bottle returns and issue a credit for the deposit. A newer + easier system is coming soon! For now, just keep returning those bottles =) Thank you!
WHAT TO DO WITH EMPTY CSA BOXES
We ask that you return your empty CSA boxes so we can continue to use them for as long as possible! Used boxes are set aside at the barn for at least two weeks before re-using. Please note that there IS a correct way to collapse these boxes! Just follow these steps.
Thank you for supporting Earth Spring Farm with your order. We're happy to be your farmers! If you have any questions or issues, please feel free to email morgan@earthspring.farm.
