Hi Friends!
With some kids already returning to school, it's hard to believe that summer is coming to an end as we look forward to our fall harvest! Winter squash season is just around the corner and we'll be digging potatoes in the coming weeks. Head lettuce is growing quickly in the greenhouses as we hit peak tomato and pepper season.
Have you tried our variety of hot peppers? They range from mild to spicy, with shishito, poblano, hatch, and hot wax on the lower end of the heat scale and jalapeno and thai at the upper end. Hot wax peppers are a Hungarian variety for fresh cooking and also for pickling! Poblano and hatch are the stars of the grill and open fire; thick-walled and perfect for roasting and stuffing, or dicing and adding to just about anything that needs rich, yummy flavor.
This will be the last week for donut peaches, so there aren't as many shares available, but we will still have delicious red plums and the tastiest nectarines. We also have a limited supply of watermelons, which we arduously taste-tested for you to confirm that they are super sweet all the way to the rind! Basil will be returning next week, but in the meantime enjoy our fresh dill, cilantro and sorrel!
See you next week!
