Since we changed the plastic on the big greenhouse last week, the difference to the plant growth has been astounding!!! I think the lettuce grew an inch in just a couple days!!!

We had a hard frost this week! On a normal year the first frost date here is in mid October!!

We are sad to say our lettuce is still not ready!!! Arg! Everything is really slowing down because it has been so cold and grey.

So, September really crept up! It's getting quite cool at night now and everything is a bit slower to ripen as a result.

Farm Happenings for Aug 30, 2020
We have been working hard at turning over more of our greenhouse spaces this week! We tore out most of the cucumbers, topped all of the pepper plants (so they will ripen quickly and uniformly) and pulled a couple varieties of tomatoes.

This past week we managed to turn over some of the greenhouse spaces and seed most of the cover crops needed in the new blocks Pat has created for veggie production next year. With the wonderful rain we have been getting, the cover crops have all germinated and are looking great!

It has been so nice to get a rainfall every so often this past little while. It keeps us on our toes and foils our daily plans sometimes, but I would take that any day over a drought!
