[CSA Update] Welcome to week 11

I am writing this while the rain continues outside. I did ask for rain, and nothing compares to the positives of natural rain for the crops.
Tropical storm Elsa is visiting, and we are getting rain.

Wonder what too much rain does around the farm?

The farm team is making jokes about watching the farm animals. We have built their coops and barns in areas that drain well. We have leads and harnesses for the goats and piggie if we need to bring them to higher ground - too bad they also love to eat geraniums, so the greenhouse is not the first place they get to take shelter. All of the animals are staying inside, warm and happy to watch the storm outside.

I have been out on the tractor and in the fields.

Several fields are located near rivers and ponds to ensure I have access to water for those dry months. Those crops are oriented to work with drainage for storms like this. That is a benefit of being on the same land for multiple generations; we know where to watch and plant.
I am soaked as if I went into a pool, and there are jobs to be done.

Months of hard work are out in the fields. I hope the rain will stop gently by the end of the day and that the sun and some dry weather follow. I am so glad that the wind hasn't followed the rain. With soaked roots and a little wind, the plants are vulnerable to even a small gust, and I'm always looking for that silver lining.
