Week 3~

So.Much.Rain!  Wow!  What a blessing!

Please remember that the strawberries really like a little bit of rain and nice hot days.  When we have this much rain, the berries start to break down much quicker.  This just means that you need to pop them in your mouth - sooner rather than later! :) This week we have celery - which is more like a herb, not the big stalks that you find at the store.  This is great in soups, casseroles - or even to juice!  Use it to flavor your food!

The first picking of green beans is also starting this week.  We have a very limited amount - but don't worry, once they start coming in, they won't stop for a while! The broccoli and cauliflower do best in cooler weather, so they are starting to wane, hopefully, we will see more in our fall CSA.

Spring is naturally a time of cleansing - all of the fresh greens and lettuces are just beckoning us to make salads or include steamed greens along with our meals.  Time to detox from all the heavier winter fare that we have enjoyed. This is one of the many benefits of eating with the seasons.  There is just a natural synergy that occurs.  It's beautiful and healing! Enjoy!

A few housekeeping items:  The 4th of July falls on a Thursday this year.  We will plan to skip that day and make it up at the end of the season.  If you are scheduled to receive a delivery that day, please know that we will skip that delivery and automatically reschedule it for the end of the season.  Remember, our Harvie software allows you to skip deliveries and reschedule them.  It gives you the option to pick up at a different location one week and then go back to your normal location.  There are lots of options and we encourage you to look at your account - update your preferences, etc.

We hope you are enjoying a wonderful week and we are thankful for your support and encouragement!
