Giving Thanks
Administrative Details:
It’s the final week of the summer farm shares! You awesome folks have eaten local from our farm for 18 whole weeks (27 if you were part of the spring share). Amazing.
If you haven’t signed up for the fall/winter share you can do so here:
https://www.harvie.farm/profile/firmly-rooted-farm
And here's one last reminder to pretty pretty please make sure you return your bags and clips.
What’s in the Box?
It’s all about winter squash! We are offering a trifecta: delicata, pie pumpkin and butternut, so pick your favorites and get roasting!
I think you should all welcome fennel to your thanksgiving table. It’s like celery, but better.

On the Farm
It rained for days, actual whole days, and nights, until we thought it would never stop. I kept looking in panic at the waterlogged crops with their tiny tender leaves that I became quite certain would never mature.
And then it stopped, and the sun came out, and the soil dried up (mostly), and my basement un-flooded (mostly), and the waterlogged leaves reached upwards towards those beautiful rays. And then I started to believe that in fact, it will all be okay. The food will still grow and we will eat well this winter.
And the sun, that beautiful, warm, life-giving ball of light in the sky made me remember how deeply grateful I am for this work, for this life, and for all of you.
I get the honor of growing the food that you nourish yourselves and your loved ones with. Sometimes I lose sight of this when I am deep in the muck, but this thanksgiving I will give thanks for each of you and the contributions you make to this tiny farm where my family and a group of kick-ass farmer women (mostly) coax nourishment and a living from the earth.
Thanks for being part of this farm, for believing in the power of local food, and for being generally great human beings. I hope feed you again next season.
Happy eating until next time,
Farmer Tamara
