ON THE FARM
What a chilly week we had! Brian, Julien and I managed to do one more big outdoor harvest before saying goodbye to our productive and trusty fields before the temperature dropped again. We are thankful for this beautiful food that this land produced and it is a privilege to learn more each year we steward it.
We aren't done harvesting, but we do get to move into the greenhouses! We also managed to get all the plants tucked in (big shout out to Brian for slugging all the sandbags into the tunnels and hoophouses). Now that the major work is done, it is harvesting, washing and a lot of packing next to our propane stove to stave off the chill and aches in our tired bodies.
What's in the Box?
No new offerings to report but I am happy to report that there are lots of sweet orange carrots! Obviously one of the best ways to eat these is to just munch them raw! Try them in a french carrot salad or shred them for some amazing carrot cake pancakes!
This is also the last week we will have chard! I know I have said that before but I truly mean it this time!
Lastly, we have lots of delicious cabbage. Roast wedges and serve with toasted walnuts and parmesan, make a batch of sauerkraut or enjoy it with lots of our garlic and ginger in a simple stir fry with protein of choice.
Until next time!
