What’s in the Box?

The first of the green beans are ready: remember they start in a trickle, then comes the flood.  We've only got about 100 portions to start but should have lots for everyone in a week or two.  The cherry tomatoes are still trickling (about 100 portions too), but give it time and you'll be able to snack on them non-stop.

I put in a bed of pickling cucumbers and those are coming on strong.  I've already put away 25 lbs of fermented sour pickles and hope to can a batch of garlic dills this weekend.  After that they are up for grabs; they'll be on the delivery list.

Our famous salad turnips are back.  I like them best raw with salt.

Cauliflower is done until the fall but let me tell you: fall cauliflower is awesome and I planted LOTS!

On the Farm

We had planned on garlic harvest for Monday but when I woke up the forecast had changed to rain.  It took me a while to wrap my head around rescheduling (and calling off the extra hands I'd arranged for), but it rained all day, and then again the next day.  Altogether we got over 5" of rain on the farm in the last week.  I thank my lucky stars that our land drains so well and that we didn't experience any major flooding or crop loss; I know many others that were not so fortunate.

All this to say that I'm going to keep this short and sweet as we are currently in the middle of harvesting our 6,000 bulbs and hope to get it done by the end of the day.  It's a lot of garlic, but I've got a lot of great people on this beautiful farm.

We hope you are loving the veggies, there are so many more great ones coming on up.

That’s all for now, happy eating until next time,

Farmer Tamara
