This weekend's beautiful fall weather was great for apples, egg plant, apples, cherry tomatoes, apples, acorn squash, and apples. Some of that stuff will be in your boxes this week. We have decided to leave our shell beans in the field a while longer -- they apparently went through a second bloom, so most plants have both dry pods and fresh pods which need to hang a while longer. Look for them toward the end of September. We're picking the last of the white peaches today, and the first of the Gala apples. We expect to have another round of leeks and green beans as well.

About the farm
Great Country Farms is a diversified family farm on the eastern slope of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Using sustainable growing practices, we raise 50 to 60 crops each year, which we sell to members and visitors. We believe it is important to make clean, nutritionally vibrant food available to as many people as possible. It is our mission to give people a chance to see how their food grows, and we want to preserve the ecosystem of our soil for future generations.
