Judging by the shares we packed this week, it's clear to see that we are officially at the threshold between summer and autumn. It’s the time of year when we’re starting to pack many varieties of squash, apples, and even pie pumpkins into farm shares while still offering warm weather favorites like tomatoes, basil, and peppers. It’s definitely a great time to be eating locally! We're also grateful that the weather is starting to cool off a bit. The sun doesn’t seem quite as blistering these days, much to the relief of our farm crew! Cooler weather also means we’re going to start seeing the appearance of even more fall crops, like spinach, cabbage, and sweet potatoes, over the next few weeks.
We are almost at the point of the season when we can say things are starting to slow down, which gives us an opportunity to celebrate with our CSA community! We’ve decided to host an informal potluck get-together for all of our CSA members out on the farm on October 7th. The farm crew's contribution will be to fire up the brick oven to roast some chicken legs and wings, and we’re asking all who attend to bring a dish to share. What better way to celebrate eating locally than by enjoying food in the place it was grown?! This will be a laid back event without any formal programming. We'll eat together and take a leisurely farm walk. We're just looking forward to an opportunity to connect over great food. We will send out an email with more details and a Google form for RSVPs, so please keep an eye out for that. We can’t wait to host you and share a meal together!
