Meet Nathan Fingerle of RiverRidge Farm near Roann, Indiana! He has been farming since 2008 and we are thrilled to partner with him for our CSA this year. You know all those amazing slicer tomatoes you’ve been eating this summer? Well, Nathan is the one who grew them! He also supplies our farm shares with a wide variety of other produce. We asked Nathan a few questions about himself and his farm. Read on to see what he said:
What brings you joy when you're working on the farm/with local food?
NF: I really love working outdoors and I relish the thought that the food we produce in our little slice of paradise is feeding families across the region!
Do you have any advice for those looking to grow their own food at home?
NF: Start small, weed and water, mulch if possible, don't be afraid to ask questions, and definitely enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Where do you hope to see the local food movement in the future?
NF: Many more local small family farms all across the nation and continued/increasing support of these farms.
Tell us more about you!
NF: My other interests are fishing, growing variegated plants (especially hostas and sedums) and hiking and camping with my wife and 10 children!
